&lt;p&gt;Great experiment. I really enjoyed reading about it.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Two observations. One is that the swimwatch pic is NAMED &#039;tom critchlow&#039; and linked to with &#039;tom critchlow image&#039; anchor text. I think the word IMAGE is more important because since ur using the &#039;image search&#039; in google.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;My second observation is that the post titled &#039;seo experiment&#039; has a lot of surround text with &#039;tom critchlow&#039; but the image itself is NOT named &#039;tom critchlow&#039; it&#039;s named &#039;att00068_resize.jpg&#039;.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;My third observation is that Yahoo Search Explorer says &#039;att00068_resize.jpg&#039; does NOT have any links pointing to it.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;In conclusion, maybe a follow-up experiment could be &#039;what approx. weight does google and others give to having the picture named after the keyword&#039;.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Although, I think we both know naming the image after a keyword IS a factor, but the question is &#039;how much of a factor....&#039;&lt;/p&gt;
